Our work
Three pillars guide every gathering, every dollar raised, every scholarship awarded.
01 · Reflection
We hold thanksgiving services, language sessions, and storytelling nights so the next generation knows where we are from — and why.
02 · Education
Scholarships fund junior secondary pupils in Regent, Waterloo, and York — uniforms, books, fees, and a backpack to carry it all.
03 · Giving
From the Dream Home orphanage to community clinics, we partner with local groups to fund what Sierra Leone tells us it needs.
Upcoming
Every event is open to family, friends, and curious neighbours. Bring a dish.

“
The Krios of Sierra Leone are descendants of freed African-American, West Indian, and Liberated African people who, between 1787 and 1885, founded the colony of Freetown. They built schools, churches, and a language — Krio — that is now spoken by hundreds of thousands.
KDU Texas is the Texas chapter of Krio Descendants Union Global. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in Carrollton. In 2008, this chapter hosted what would become the annual KDU Family Reunion — and we have been gathering ever since.

“Le we hep we sef.”
When we send a uniform to a child in Regent, we are not remembering charity. We are remembering that the village raised every one of us — and now it is our turn to raise the village.
