PROGRAMS — SCHOLARSHIP

The KDU Texas Scholarship.

Tuition support for students at three Krio schools in Freetown — Methodist Girls’ High School, Annie Walsh Memorial School, and the Prince of Wales School.

The chapter funds tuition for students at three historic Krio schools in Freetown. The scholarship covers a year of tuition, a uniform, books, and exam fees, and is renewable on academic performance.

Eligibility

  • Enrolled at Methodist Girls’ High School, Annie Walsh Memorial School, or the Prince of Wales School in Freetown.
  • Demonstrated academic promise and financial need.
  • Application reviewed by the chapter Scholarship Committee.

How to apply

Applications are received through the partner schools each spring. The Scholarship Committee selects awardees in time for the new academic year. Awardees are announced at the chapter’s annual scholarship ceremony — a recent favourite event of the membership.

How to fund a student

Every dollar of the chapter’s scholarship fund comes from member dues, the dinner-and-dance fundraiser, and individual donations. Make a gift earmarked for scholarships, or contact the Scholarship Committee directly at board@kduoftexas.org to sponsor a specific student.
